There are some cars that instantly transport you back to a particular era of the car scene.
The Dimma Peugeot 205 is undoubtedly one of them.
Originally designed and produced by Dimma Design Belgium in 1985, the styling of the Dimma 205 was heavily influenced by the legendary Peugeot 205 T16 Group B rally car. The wide arches, aggressive stance and unmistakable styling quickly made the Dimma 205 one of the ultimate modified cars of its generation.
And for Image Wheels, there’s an extra connection to that history…
Dimma UK – 38 Years of Iconic Cars
In 1986, Terry Pankhurst became the UK representative for Dimma Design, establishing Dimma UK and helping to cement the Dimma name within the British car scene.
One of Terry’s first projects was designing the now-iconic Dimma three-piece 16″ wheel, which completed the factory look of the wide-bodied 205 and became an important part of the Dimma identity.
Terry also established a network of Peugeot main dealers around the UK, with around 250 brand-new Dimma-converted 205s being sold through them. These “factory” cars are now highly sought-after and increasingly collectible.
Dimma went on to become a defining name in the early Max Power era, with Terry’s creations appearing regularly in the magazine. Over the years, the Dimma name was applied to a variety of cars, including the Renault 5, Peugeot 309, Fiat Uno, Renault Clio, Peugeot 106, 206 and 306 Rally cars, and even the E46 BMW.
It’s a pretty impressive legacy.
The Dimma 205 – Reimagined
Fast forward to today and Terry continues to create some seriously special Dimma builds.
One of the latest is this incredible Dimma 205-300PS Carbon, a modern interpretation of the legendary wide-bodied Peugeot.
And, naturally, a car this special needed a suitably bespoke set of wheels.
That’s where we came in.
19″ RM2s for the Dimma
For this particular build, Terry chose our RM2 style wheels, with a bespoke specification of:
9.0 x 19″
The wheels, manufactured as three-piece split rims, gave Terry the flexibility to achieve the required dimensions and stance for this particular Dimma.
The centres were finished in a striking chrome powdercoat, paired with beautifully polished outer rims.
The result is a combination that works brilliantly against the aggressive carbon-bodied Dimma. The RM2’s classic motorsport-inspired styling complements the wide arches while the 19″ diameter gives this modern interpretation of the 205 an unmistakably purposeful stance.
Old-School Inspiration, Modern Execution
What we particularly love about this project is the way it combines the heritage of Dimma with modern engineering and materials.
The original Dimma 205 helped define an era of modified car culture. Four decades later, Terry is still pushing the concept forward, creating cars that retain the unmistakable Dimma DNA while bringing the styling and performance into the modern era.
And we’re incredibly pleased that Image Wheels RM2s form part of that latest chapter.
It’s always a privilege to see our wheels on a car with such a strong history — but when that car is being built by one of the people responsible for that history in the first place, it makes the project even more special.
A Legacy That Keeps Evolving
From the original 205 T16-inspired designs of the mid-1980s, through the golden era of Max Power and the many Dimma creations that followed, to today’s incredible 205-300PS Carbon, the Dimma name continues to capture the imagination.
We’re proud to have supplied the 19″ RM2 three-piece wheels for this latest creation by Terry Pankhurst and Dimma UK.
