ALLOY WHEEL MAINTENANCE & FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

Delivery

Upon receipt, please inspect the wheels for any damage that may have occurred during transit. Any damage must be reported in writing immediately, as we must notify our carriers within 3 days. Claims made after this period cannot be accepted. Also, confirm that the wheels are complete and match your order.

Fitment & Application

Before fitting tyres, ensure that all wheels are compatible with both front and rear hubs. They must not interfere with suspension components, brake callipers, steering mechanisms, or bodywork. If any fitment issues arise, they must be reported in writing within 7 days. Claims submitted after this timeframe will not be considered.

Please also check for obstructions on the hub such as balance weights, bolts, screws, or spring washers. Make sure your wheel brace fits the wheel properly.

Tyre Mounting

Important: Do not dismantle the wheel when mounting tyres.
All Image Wheels are designed for tubeless tyres. Always place wheels face-up to avoid damaging the styling surface. For optimal results, use professional mounting equipment with a rotating head and an upper bead breaker that doesn’t contact the wheel.

  • Do not use manual mounting tools, as they may damage the rim.
  • Use neat liquid soap to assist in tyre mounting—it helps prevent damage and makes the process easier.

Tyre fitters take note: Some wheels feature a rolled edge for added strength—particularly when using ultra-low-profile tyres. This edge should not be considered during wheel balancing, as it may give a false impression of imbalance.

Wheel Fitting

Ensure that hubs, studs, and mounting surfaces are clean and free of burrs before installation. Avoid damaging bolt holes during fitting. Always tighten nuts/bolts in a criss-cross pattern to the torque specifications outlined in your vehicle’s manual.

  • Use hand tools only.
  • Retorque after the first 100 miles, and regularly thereafter.
  • Do not grease nut or bolt seating surfaces.

Perimeter Nuts/Bolts

  • Perimeter bolts are factory-torqued to 12–14 ft/lb.
  • Do not over-tighten.
  • For racing use, always check torque settings before every event.

Alloy Wheel Maintenance

For powder-coated wheels (including Chrome Silver finishes), clean using a soft sponge and warm soapy water only. Polished rims and centres require additional care:

  • Clean regularly with warm soapy water.
  • At the first sign of oxidation, use Solvo Autosol polish.

Important

  • Apply Image Wheel Protector spray to guard against brake dust and grime.
  • During winter or long-term storage, coat the wheels with Image Wheel Protector or WD-40 to protect against road salt corrosion.

Motorsport Usage

Racing conditions introduce unpredictable stresses, tyre setups, and forces. As such, we cannot guarantee wheel lifespan under race conditions and will not accept claims for damage incurred during motorsport use.

  • Wheels altered after leaving our factory are not covered under warranty.
  • Racing accidents may cause fatigue and damage—always inspect your wheels after every race.

If damage is suspected, we highly recommend returning the wheels to us for a full inspection. We will provide a detailed report based on our findings.

Racing Drivers:
Wheels endure intense loads throughout the season. To ensure safety, we strongly advise returning all wheels for inspection at the end of each racing season.
