At Image Wheels, we’re no strangers to unique builds — but this one came with a twist of TV magic. When Irvs Restorations got in touch for their latest project — a rare 1977 Daimler Sovereign Coupe — we knew we’d be part of something special.
The car was one of the headline restorations in Classic Car Kings, a six-part series produced by Chatterbox Media, airing on Channel U, Yesterday, and streaming online for free. Irvs needed a set of bespoke wheels that would help transform this rare British grand tourer from forgotten too unforgettable.
The Brief: Classic Roots, Custom Fit
The Daimler Sovereign Coupe is a rare British classic, a low-production, pillarless grand tourer based on the Jaguar XJ6. Sleek, understated, and unmistakably ’70s, it deserved a proper revival.
Irvs Restorations came to us looking for a set of wheels that would respect the car’s heritage, while giving it a sharper, more purposeful stance for modern roads. The fitment needed to be spot-on, with a finish that would elevate the build without overwhelming its original lines.
We manufactured a set of our Billet Kent wheels, custom-sized at 8×18″ front and 9.5×18″ rear — designed to sit perfectly under the coupe’s arches.

The Build: Clean Lines, Built to Fit
Three Piece Wheels all manufactured to order in the West Midlands. The centres machined from solid billet aluminium, the wheels were built for precision, strength, and style; true to Image Wheels’ ethos.
We finished them with black and diamond-cut centres, paired with polished outer rims for a bold, high-contrast look that tied in perfectly with the Daimler’s restored paintwork and reimagined identity.
The fitment? Spot on. The finish? Even better.
As the Irvs team put it during filming:
“Well, they were worth the wait, weren’t they? I think they look mega.”
“Look smart, don’t they? Very smart.”

The Verdict: Worth Every Penny
We know custom wheels aren’t a small investment — but they’re often what makes a build feel truly finished. Irvs Restoration clearly agreed:
“Four and a half grand we paid for these wheels — good price really. I paid 20k for wheels for my Porsche, but I’d say there’s far more work gone into these wheels.”
– Irvs Restoration
It’s always rewarding to hear that level of appreciation for the craftsmanship and detail that goes into every set we produce. And when someone who’s paid £20k for Porsche wheels says ours are more impressive? We’ll take that.

Why This Build Stands Out
This wasn’t just a set of wheels — it was a small but significant part of a much bigger transformation. The Daimler Sovereign Coupe is a rare bird, and helping bring one back to life — especially for a TV audience — is exactly the kind of project we love.
This wasn’t just a workshop success, it was a TV feature. The Daimler’s journey (complete with the usual surprises and setbacks that come with classic car restorations) was followed in the cumulate episode of the six-part series.
It brought a rare British classic back to life, introduced it to a new audience, and showed just how much difference the right set of wheels can make.
We’re proud to have played a part in it.
