ALLOY WHEEL MAINTENANCE & FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

DELIVERY

Please check the wheels are not damaged due to incorrect handling. DAMAGE MUST BE REPORTED IN WRITING IMMEDIATELY. We have to inform our carriers within 3 days. After this time period no claims can be considered. Check that the wheels are complete and in accordance with your order.

APPLICATION

BEFORE FITTING YOUR TYRES, check that all wheels fit both front and rear hubs without fouling suspension, bodywork, brake callipers or steering. IF THERE IS A FITMENT PROBLEM WE MUST BE NOTIFIED IN WRITING WITHIN 7 DAYS. After this time period no claims can be considered. Look at the hubs to ensure that there are no projections such as balance weights, bolts, screws, spring washers. Check that your wheel brace fits the wheels correctly.

TYRE MOUNTING

DO NOT DISMANTLE WHEEL TO MOUNT TYRE
Each Image Wheel is suitable for tubeless tyres. Never put wheels down on styling side to avoid damage. For best results use mounting equipment with a rotating head and upper bead breaker that does not touch the wheel. Ensure the bead breaker does not damage the wheel. DO NOT USE MANUAL MOUNTING EQUIPMENT – IT WILL DAMAGE THE RIMS. Unlike a one piece wheel, which is painted all over, three piece wheels are not. We recommend your tyre fitter uses neat liquid soap. This will greatly help the tyre to slide over the rim.

TYRE FITTER PLEASE NOTE: Some wheels may have a rolled edge on the inner and outer rims. This is to increase the wheel strength especially when fitted on ultra low profile tyres. The rolled edge should not be monitored when balancing the wheel as it will give the impression the wheel is running out of true.

WHEEL FITTING

Hubs, studs and mounting surfaces have to be clean and free of burrs. Do not damage the bolt holes when fitting the wheel. Tighten nuts/bolts in a cross wise manner and torque to the limit as specified in the vehicle manual. Use only hand tools to torque nut/bolts. Re torque your nuts/bolts after 100 miles, and then at regular intervals. Do not grease the nut/bolt seating.

PERIMETER NUT/BOLTS

The perimeter bolts leave the factory torqued to the correct FT/LB – 12/14 FT/LB. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

RACING APPLICATIONS – check torque setting BEFORE every race meeting.

ALLOY WHEEL MAINTENANCE

For Wheels with a powder coated (including the Chrome Silver) centre hub, use only a sponge and hot soapy water to clean. If your wheels have highly polished outer /inner rims or a polished centre, then the polished areas will need extra care and cleaning to maintain this finish. The polished areas should be regularly cleaned with hot soapy water and if any signs of oxidization are visible the polished areas should be cleaned with SOLVO AUTOSOL, available at most good car accessory shops. Our Image Wheel Protector spray will greatly help stop brake dust/grime from attacking the polished surface, and during winter months when road salt is being used we strongly recommend that your wheels are heavily coated with Image Wheel Protector as the chemicals in road salt are very corrosive. If your car is garaged for long periods again we recommend coating your wheels with Image Wheel Protector or WD40.

NEVER USE ALLOY WHEEL CLEANER (ACID OR ALKALINE BASED) IT WILL STAIN AND DAMAGE YOUR WHEELS AND ATTACK THE COATING ON THE PERIMETER BOLTS. DO NOT USE HIGH PRESSURE JET WASHERS.

MOTOR RACING

Due to unknown stresses and down-forces placed on a racing car, together with different tyre choices available slicks, wets etc, it is impossible for us as a manufacturer to be able to calculate the life span of a given wheel design. Therefore we cannot accept claims of wheel breakage/damage etc due directly to motor racing. Please note we will not accept responsibility for any product that has been altered in any way after leaving the factory (road or race use.)

In motor racing accidents do happen and damaged outer/inner rims are changed and although we use only the highest quality metals, eventually racing/impact fatigue will set in. Please check your wheels after every race meeting for signs of racing/impact fatigue. As a responsible company, and under ISO9001 guidelines we strongly recommend that accident damaged wheels are returned to us, for inspection. The findings will then be reported to the customer.

RACING DRIVERS: WHEELS AND TYRES TAKE A HUGE AMOUNT OF LOADING AND STRESS THROUGHOUT YOUR RACING SEASON. We again very strongly recommend that at the end of your racing season all your wheels are returned to us for inspection to make sure they are safe for use when your next racing season begins.

PLEASE ENSURE THIS SHEET IS PASSED TO THE END USER IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
